Fire magazine is a monthly magazine published from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Fire is known for its excellent photography and have been rated as the best photojournalism magazine in India. The "fire" means that which brings light, hope, warmth and satisfaction. The word typifies the enthusiasm of the founders to create a new platform for photography sector in Kerala. It publishes articles about current issues related to social sciences and visual arts every month. It also contains exclusive interviews conducted by leading photographers from different parts of world with noted personalities from different walks of life .A professional journalist handles each subject matter . It is the only magazine in India which publishes an annual calendar of photographic work . It has also organized several photography related exhibitions. The magazine is usually published monthly .It has been published by "Firehouse Magazine Publishers Pvt.Ltd." since 2012, originally "Kerala Photojournalist' was started in 1996 by Mr.Aaron Thomas under the patronage of Kuttanad Photo Club. Aaron Thomas, founder of firehouse magazine publishers , is a well known photojournalist , documentary photographer and documentary film maker .He was born in Cochin, Kerala and graduated from Sree Narayana College, Kollam He initially worked for local newspapers before entering photographic journalism with photo agency Gamma in Calicut . In the early 1990s, he worked for a few magazines in Kerala. In 1996, he started working for "Kerala Photo Journalist" . After some years of working with "Kerala Photo Journalist", he shifted his base of operations to Thiruvananthapuram. He has also worked as the editorial fellow with the Indian Express; he published articles across print and online media . Aaron Thomas has received several awards at international photojournalistic event like World Press Photo (WP), Pictures of the Year (POY), European Pressphoto Agency (EPA). He lives in Thiruvananthapuram. "Fire" has a dedicated website for online edition of the magazine The Indian Photojournalist Association (IPJA) is an association of photojournalists in India. It regularly organizes workshops and seminars regularly to promote photo journalism and assist upcoming photographers. Since 2006, fire Magazine has been organizing annual workshops to provide professional guidance to aspirants.Apart from this, there are other magazines published by Firehouse Publishers : In 2011 Award for excellence in photography from the Government of Kerala was conferred on "Fire Magazine" for its outstanding contribution to the field of visual arts and photography . The award was conferred by the minister for Tourism.. In the year 2011, the International Photography Festival, Kerala won a national award under "Best Visual Communication" category.In December 1996 there were two exhibitions of photography from Kerala at the Nottingham Contemporary gallery in Nottingham, UK. In 1997 these photographs were made into a book "Kerala Photos" published by World of Photo. In 2010 again a book with same title published by World of Photo with photographs from Mr Aaron Thomas .In 2002 The International Photography Festival, Kerala arranged a solo exhibition of 13 photos from Kerala in New Delhi.
